Personal Year Number Calculator

Find your personal year number for free: the figure that sets the tone for the months ahead, worked out from your date of birth and the current year.

Calendar year: January to December.

What the personal year number is

In numerology, your personal year is a number from 1 to 9 (or, occasionally, 11, 22 or 33) that describes the general tone of a given year. It doesn't replace your character or determine your future: it's a cycle that repeats every nine years, and many people use it as a symbolic prompt for planning, reviewing goals or simply noticing what phase they're in.

It's worked out from your birth month and day combined with the current year, so it changes every 1 January, unlike your life path number, which stays fixed for life.

How it's calculated

The formula reduces each figure separately by adding its digits until one remains, unless the result is 11, 22 or 33 (master numbers, which are kept as they are). The three results are then added together and reduced once more with the same rule. Here's a worked example: you were born on 5 March, and you want your personal year for 2026.

The result, 9, points to a closing-cycle year under this formula. Anyone born on 5 March, whatever year they were born in, shares this same personal year in 2026.

Calendar year or birthday to birthday

Some numerology schools count the personal year from birthday to birthday, starting the day you were born. This calculator uses the calendar year, January to December, which is the more common convention and the one used in the full reading on this site.

The difference matters most near your birthday: if you were born in October, a birthday-to-birthday count would keep last year's number until then, while this calculator has already moved on as of 1 January.

What to do with it (and what not to)

Your personal year works best as a lens for noticing things, not as an instruction. You might use it to think about when to start something new or when it makes more sense to consolidate what you already have.

What it isn't: a fixed prediction or a guarantee that something good or bad will happen. It's a symbolic reading within a numerology tradition, not a science, and important decisions deserve real information, not just a number.

Frequently asked questions

Does the personal year change on 1 January or on my birthday?

In this calculator, it changes on 1 January, because it uses the calendar year. Other traditions calculate it from birthday to birthday; both approaches exist within numerology, but they don't give the same number in the months before your birthday.

What's the difference between a personal year and a life path number?

Your life path number is fixed: it's worked out once from your full date of birth and never changes. Your personal year changes every year, because it factors in the current year alongside your birth month and day.

Can my personal year be a master number (11, 22 or 33)?

Yes, though it's less common. It happens when the sum before the final reduction lands exactly on 11, 22 or 33; in that case it isn't reduced further and stays a master number.

Should I use my personal year to make important decisions?

It can be a symbolic prompt for reflection, but it doesn't replace real information, professional advice or your own judgement. Treat it as one lens among others, not an instruction to follow.

Does the calculator store my details?

It only uses the day, month and year you enter to run the calculation there and then; you don't need to sign up to see your result on this free page.
