The layers of the aura: what they are and what each one reveals about you

The aura is not a single layer of color around the body. It is a system of stacked energy fields, each carrying different information about your health, emotions, thoughts, and life purpose.

The layers of the aura: what they are and what each one reveals about you

What the layers of the aura are and how many a human being has

In esoteric tradition and some models of human energy, the aura is described as a system of concentric energy fields surrounding the physical body. The most widely used model describes 7 main layers, though some systems describe up to 12. Each layer vibrates at a different frequency and corresponds to a different aspect of the person: the physical body, emotions, thoughts, intuition, and spiritual connection. What matters is not the exact number but understanding that the aura is not homogeneous.

The etheric layer: the closest to the body and the densest

The first layer, called the etheric layer, is the closest to the physical body and the easiest to feel or perceive. It surrounds the body by a few centimeters and is directly related to physical health, vitality, and the state of the nervous system. It is the layer that most quickly reflects fatigue, illness, or recovery. In aura readings it is the most consistent and provides the most information about immediate physical state.

The emotional and astral layer: your present emotions and your bonds

The second layer, the emotional layer, records the current affective state: joy, anxiety, sadness, love. Its color and density change quickly according to the emotional state of the moment. The third layer, astral or heart layer in some systems, is related to emotional bonds, empathy, and connections between people. It is in this layer that strong emotional ties are reflected, both those that are nourishing and those that drain energy.

The mental layers: thoughts, beliefs, and mental clarity

The fourth and fifth layers are associated with the mental plane. The lower mental layer records everyday thoughts, habitual thinking patterns, and rational activity. The higher mental or causal layer holds deeper beliefs, ingrained mental schemas, and in the spiritual view of the aura, the information carried from one incarnation to the next. It is the layer that is hardest to change and the one that most influences repeated behavioral patterns.

Signs that a layer of the aura is altered

Each layer can be overactivated, dimmed, or fractured according to energy reading traditions. A weakened etheric layer often correlates with chronic fatigue or recurring illness. A very agitated emotional layer appears in people with high stress loads or unprocessed trauma. A dense mental layer can show up as rigidity of thought, difficulty changing perspective, or constant rumination. Aura readings work specifically with these signals.
